A new window will pop up for you, like the one on the right. There will be NO red circle around the color choices.

Your window will probably look different from mine, because the window opens using the LAST choices made in the PSP program. I have added custom colors to mine. You may have all white spaces or whatever custom colors you have saved for whatever project you last worked on.

For this tutorial, you only need to concern yourself with the stuff inside the red circle.

Now, to use the EXACT color I am using, click on the 3rd block from the right on the TOP row. OR, write "#800000" (leave out the quotation marks) ) in the space that says "HTML code".

Click "OK" .

Now you need to be sure you are working with the correct layer for your image. If you are not, you will destroy the textured effect.

First, make sure your layer window is showing. To call it up (if it isn't already showing), click on the image that looks like the one I circled in red in the screen shot on the right.

Next, click on the words that say "Layer 2". I added the bold red so you could see it better. But in your PC it will not be that large.

I do not know what the default colors are for your PC, you may have different colors in your window than what is shown here. But, the layer you are actually working on will show in a DARKER color than the rest.

To add color, choose to the flood fill tool (the bucket) and move your cursor (mouse) over the image. Click and the color should appear.

It should look something like the image on the right.

soften color

Next, it is time to soften the color, so your texture shows. To do this, look where I added the red circle above. With your cursor, move the hourglass (or double arrows, as some people call them) to the right. As you do, the color becomes more transparent. When you are satisfied with the amount of color showing, stop.
