Back to Tutorial Index

In this tutorial we will learn how to compress a JPG file using Paint Shop Pro 7. The same techinique will work in Paint Shop Pro 6.

You can use the finished product for background images on web pages, fills for new graphics, wallpaper for your computer, and anything your imagination can thinkup! We will be using the Faded Crazy Wall image as an example. You can use any image you like that is a JPG or JPEG. Now let's get started.

Follow the red numbers to be sure you do the tutorial in the right order.

1

First, open the image you want to compress.

Next, press "Ctrl" and "d" at the same time to make a copy of your original.

This is to insure that you do not accidently ruin your original.

ALWAYS WORK WITH A COPY!

Make copy of original
Close original so only copy remains.

2

Now, close your original image, so only the copy remains. This will prevent you from accidently working on your original.
